My 200th
Feeling: cold
Listening to: "Machine" by Josh Groban
So Northampton was pretty much amazing. We got to Massachusetts around noon, and stopped at the Sugar Shack for maple ice cream, which both Katie and Sara liked much to my delight. After that we drove over to the farm and Sara, Katie, and I walked around the barn for a few minutes so we could look (aka fawn over) the horses. We had to leave though, because my mom had to be in Northampton (at that point we were technically in Hadley) to go to her musical, so we hopped in the car and drove there.
Once at Northampton, we started walking up to the main street when we passed a gay book store that happened to have a book that I've been dying to read (Lois Lenz, Lesbian Secretary... it's a really campy parody of the old pulp novels of the fifties) in the window. So we popped in, laughed at the funny liberal bumper stickers, and debated buying Derek "I love my penis" mints. We wandered around for a while, and walked into whichever stores caught our fancy. After a while, we got hungry, so we went to a Tibetan restaurant ("Everything is hotter in Tibet!") where I got spiced potatoes, Sara got Tibetan chicken soup, and Katie got Yak. Afterwards we shared some mango ice cream, which was about a million times more delicious than I expected.
After lunch, we wandered a bit more before ending up in a used bookstore. Once there, we perused the choices, and I ended up getting Feminist Fairy Tales and Odd Girls and Twilight Lovers which is a history of lesbianism in 20th century America. The used store wasn't far from the car, so we figured we'd all just wait there for my mom, who was only going to be a few minutes behind us. So we all sat on the car (Katie on the windshield and Sara and I on the hood) and all of the sudden, the car alarm went off. I was expecting it, because I know my mom thinks that kind of thing is funny, but Katie must have jumped about three feet. It was hilarious.
The ride back went really fast because we were all just talking and laughing, which was amazingly fun. I needed some new inside jokes and I now have a lovely little surplus.
DO NOT WANT!!!!! Oh... sorry. I thought I saw Kermit the Frog.
So as many of you may know, I will be switching to LiveJournal after this post in favor of better privacy settings. The ramblings of my daily life can now be found at http://fanatic6.livejournal.com but FYI, it is limited access so only my LJ friends can see the restricted posts. It's a sad moment for me, because I've been maintaining this blog for more than two years now, so that's a pretty significant chunk of my life right there. Longer than any actual journal I've ever kept, that's for sure. So, dear readers, I leave you with a line from my first post that is still, somehow, relevant. It seemed to me like people were getting a little sick of my obsessive ramblings...
